Our Hospital is seeking to appoint an exceptional Head Nurse to promote the highest level of clinical care, and lead and inspire our team of 24 RVNs, SVNs and VCAs.
This is a rare opportunity for a skilled nurse to model exemplary nursing, manage a large team and oversee the day to day running of a busy hospital and branch surgery.
CPD facilitation is a large part of this role, and development for all staff is a high priority. Our Head Nurse oversees our apprentices and student nurses, is a clinical coach and co-ordinates work experience placements.
We are looking for someone with experience of managing a large team, leading by example, and ensuring high clinical standards are met. Experience of HR processes and procedures, compiling complex rotas (at least six months in advance) and motivating and looking after the wellbeing of our team is essential.
This is an ‘on the ground role’ and will involve 2 days nursing, with 3 days a week for management time and development of the team.
The rota is 5 days per week Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. There are no OOH.
The salary for this role is up to £35,000 depending on experience.
We are a small animal, 1st Opinion, Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital in Devon. We have 2 operating theatres, a self-contained dental suite, imaging suite, separate cattery, kennels, and isolation wards with silver standard ISFM cat-friendly accreditation. We also have an internal lab, pharmacy and 5 consult rooms with separate dog and cat waiting areas. Our excellent facilities allow our clinical team to deliver veterinary care with a dedicated focus on providing high clinical standards. This is something we take every opportunity in developing and delivering.
We currently have a team of 11 Veterinary Surgeons (full and part time) supported by large Nursing, Reception and Administration teams.
